Evidence of the Ferroelectric Polarization in Charge Transport through WTe2 Weyl Semimetal Surface

We investigate electron transport along the surface of WTe2 three-dimensional single crystals, which are characterized by coexistence conductivity and ferroelectricity a Weyl semimetal at room temperature. find that nonlinear behavior differential resistance $$dV{\text{/}}dI(I)$$ is accompanied slow relaxation process, appears as dependence on sign current change. This observation confirmed direct investigation time-dependent curves. While strongly should be expected for zero-gap WTe2, in very unusual well-conducting semimetals establish nonmonotonic amplitude effect driving well corresponds to known Sawyer–Tower’s ferroelectric hysteresis loop. The possibility induce polarization source-drain field variation unique since it consequence metallic conduction. conclusion also gate voltage dependencies, so our results can understood demonstration charge experiment.
